[Announcement] End of support for Internet Explorer 9 and Internet Explorer 10
Thank you for using TypeSquare.

Please be informed that TypeSquare will discontinue support for Internet Explorer 9 on April 30th, 2017 as Microsoft ends support for Windows Vista on April 12th, 2017.

Microsoft ended support for Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10 on January 13th, 2016 so TypeSquare will also discontinue support for Internet Explorer 10 on April 30th, 2017.

TypeSquare continues to support the display of web fonts in the following web browsers:

Morisawa’s Web Font Service TypeSquare Begins Offering Fonts from A-1 Corp and Design Signal Company

Morisawa Inc., headed by Akihiko Morisawa and headquartered at 2-6-25 Shikitsu Higashi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan, will begin offering fonts from A-1 Corp (President: Yoshimichi Ohira, A-1 hereafter) and Design Signal Company (Presdent: Yasushi Saikusa, Design Signal hereafter).

A-1 is known for simple and easy-to-use fonts such as ZEN Old Mincho N and ZEN Kaku Gothic N. The fonts are perfectly suited for a wide range of applications, from catch phrases to body text. Design Signal, in contrast, is known for its rich library of unique, eye-catching, display-type fonts such as Kirigirisu and Soyokaze, used in various genres including games and package designs to make novel, standout statements.

All 22 fonts from A-1 and 27 fonts from Design Signal are available for trials on TypeSquare, a website that allows fonts to be easily viewed and sampled in a browser.

TypeSquare continues to expand and improve its Web Fonts lineup to aid in the creation of better-looking and better-performing websites.

Morisawa Inc. announces the release of UD Digital Kyokasho-tai and UD Digital Kyokasho-tai Latin on Web Font Service TypeSquare.

UD Digital Kyokasho-tai is a universal design typeface which is suitable for ICT education compliant with official curriculum guidelines. It maintains forms of writing directions, stops and sweep strokes, and reduces the contrast. This typeface is designed with consideration for people who have low vision or suffer from dyslexia*, and has scientific basis in terms of the readability. UD Digital Kyokasho-tai Latin is suitable for new English education materials which Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology works on.  This typeface could be used on your Website with UD Digital Kyokasho-tai.

[Support Information] Changing supported browser versions for the TypeSquare member site

Thank you for using TypeSquare and Morisawa fonts.

From July 30th, 2018, our supported browser versions for TypeSquare member site will be changed as follows because of security enhancement and feature updating:

 - We will discontinue to support TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 for connecting TypeSquare member site.
 - We will change our supported browser versions accordingly as follows:
     Internet Explorer 11 or later
     Microsoft Edge 14 or later
     Safari 7 or later
     Chrome 42 or later
     Firefox 45 or later

If you are using the older versions of browsers which we will not support after July 30th, 2018, you will not be able to use TypeSquare member site as shown below:
 - You will not be able to access TypeSquare member site from browsers which do not support TLS1.2.
 - Some issues with the display and features in TypeSquare member site will occur if you are using unsupported browser versions.

[Announcement] New Additions to TypeSquare’s Lineup: A1 Gothic, Toppan Bunkyu Midashi Mincho EB, Shuei KakuGo Kin M, Shuei KakuGo Gin M

Dear customers,

Web font service TypeSquare will release four new fonts: A1 Gothic, Toppan Bunkyu Midashi Mincho EB, Shuei KakuGo Kin M, Shuei KakuGo Gin M. A1 Gothic is an old-style Gothic font created by referring back to the original skeleton of A1 Mincho. The expression of sumi-damari (literally, ink blots) at stroke crossings and a slight rounding of elements give warmth to the font design. Toppan Bunkyu Midashi Mincho EB is a Mincho-style heading font with lively brush strokes, whose design is based on the backbones of the conventional Toppan fonts as well as the Tsukiji font, the source of Toppan fonts. Toppan Bunkyu Midashi Mincho EB creates a solid presence on websites, befitting a heading font. In addition to the weights already offered, a new “M” weight is now available for Shuei KakuGo Kin and Shuei KakuGo Gin.

Web font service TypeSquare is releasing a number of new fonts in the US, Korea and Taiwan. Hiragino fonts, such as Hiragino Mincho and Hiragino Kaku Gothic from SCREEN Graphic Solutions Co., LTD., are included in macOS, and have been well-received in a wide range of fields, including the print design industry. TypeSquare has offered the fonts in Japan since 2014, where they have been widely adopted. With this release the fonts are now also available in the US, Korea and Taiwan.

Dear customers,

Our new offering will include the following fonts:
“Shimanami,” characterized by elements incorporating the nuances of brush strokes; “Kamome Ryuso,” with stroke-endings that evoke the sharp talons of dragons; “SakuraKeisetsu,” that exudes refinement and graciousness; “Shuei NijimiMGo,” with a letterpress-like texture created by a bleeding-ink effect; “Echo,” with a clean look generated by a high center of gravity and a linear font design; “Orb,” with a classy retro feel from its sweet, rounded streamline expression. On March 25th, 2019, we will update some of our web fonts to improve the display on Windows.

Please be aware that it will take a while for the updated fonts to be reflected depending on your website.

The updated fonts may look lighter in weight because we have improved the issue that smaller size of fonts or lighter weight of fonts may look jagged or uneven in weight by reason of the ability of rendering in browsers.
We recommend you use a bolder weight for the font, a bigger size for the font as far as the balance of your website permits as a solution.

[Announcement] UD Shin Go Traditional Chinese Characters Standard Type and UD Rei Min Hangul to be offered on Desktop Font and the Web Font Service TypeSquare

Two new fonts will be introduced to TypeSquare, our Web Font service and Desktop Font service, on May 13, 2019.
Designed and based on the Japanese font UD Shin Go, UD Shin Go Traditional Chinese Characters Standard Type supports Chinese characters used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. UD Rei Min Hangul [Korean] is a Mincho typeface featuring soft elements, straight strokes, and high readability designed and based on the Japanese font UD Rei Min.
